Your professional will navigate the application process and advise you of your application status at any time. You will then receive your completed application in the mail to sign and return with checks issued for state and any applicable bond fees. It’s that easy. Why do you only charge the service fee at the time of purchase?
ShipCompliant Services charges the service fee upfront and provides estimated additional fees that may include state fees, bond fees, label registration fees, tax fees and any additional state fees depending on the state requirements. Your ShipCompliant Services professional will help you determine your exact cost as additional fees may vary depending on the information you provide. All fees, except the service fee, are paid directly to the state or bond company.
How long does the process take? Can I get the license expedited?
The estimated time of completion given when you make a purchase is based from the time we receive the completed information form and documents from you. The estimated time is based on application preparation time, package signature time and state processing time. Every state is different. On average, it takes approximately 30-45 days to process an application with the state; this time is fixed and cannot be expedited.
What does it mean to pre-order my license? Why should I do this?
There are legislation changes regarding direct shipping happening all the time. To prepare for those legislative changes, we want to give you the opportunity to pre-order licenses for states that will open for direct shipping in the near future. By pre-ordering your license and complete the forms in advance, your application will be the first submitted and approved when the time comes.
I have a retail license. Can I purchase my direct shipping license through ShipCompliant Services?
Not at this time. ShipCompliant Services currently only processes licenses for bonded wineries.
What is a bond?
Some state licenses require bonds. Bonds are issued by a bond company and can range from $500 - $10,000 based on the state selected. The bond fee is like an insurance premium-you pay an annual or biannual “premium” to secure a bond. ShipCompliant Services quotes the bond fee as an estimate separate from the state license fee and the service fee. You will issue a check for any bonds at the same time you issue license fees to the state. ShipCompliant works with several bondsmen to get you a fair rate. If your current bondsmen can give you a better rate, we will be happy to work with your bondsman to retain your bond.
